I'm now entering my 22nd waking hour and I'm so tired I could cry.
This morning started at 4:30, after roughly four hours of sleep...a grand total of about 15 cumulative hours of sleep for the past three days. But that's mostly my fault.
Anyway, 4:30 came way too early and Luke and I headed to the bus...and then Tim Horton's for coffee before our 6:00 departure.
Now, I don't know if Tim Horton's qualifies as fast food, and either way, it shouldn't. That was the LONGEST I've ever had to wait for a cup of hot chocolate and a bagel. Let me tell you, I was already in a bad mood from lack of sleep, so the waiting for half an hour for caffeine was unpleasant.
And then we got on the bus to go five hours to Harrisburg.
In case you're wondering, here's what the bus looks like:
Yeah, that's mine and Luke's home for the next three and a half months, and I gotta say: this bus is sweet.
I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but there are signatures all over the bus - people are seriously entertained by the idea of signing a huge bus. As our boss put it today "You can put your own John Hancock right next to...John Hancock's!"
Anyway, today was spent galavanting around Pennsylvania for two rallies that gubernatorial (that's smart people talk for governor) candidate Tom Corbett held...and it looks like he's gonna win.
We stopped in Harrisburg first, and that was actually a pretty cool city.
1. The rally was outside.
2. It was raining.
After we left, we followed Tom Corbett to Johnstown to appear at another of his rallies. That one was inside, but I was really surprised at the number of people who wanted to sign the bus. Tom Corbett and his running mates signed it, too and everything was merry and bright.
The drive home was so long and Luke and I failed miserably at a few New York Times crosswords. I may have fallen asleep at some point, but it wasn't good sleep and it definitely wasn't for very long.
So now I'm staying at Miller and Luke's apartment, and that's all fine and dandy. I've survived their shower and we're watching The Dark Knight. Luke's half asleep next to me, and I'm sure I'll pass out soon, too.
Our next assignment (I feel kind of like a secret agent or detective...maybe trying to find Carmen Sandiego!) begins Wednesday when we leave for Maryland and Washington D.C. for all sorts of fun. This one's an overnight, and soon, we'll be living on the Liberty Bus.
So we've got a day off to recuperate...and by recuperate, I really mean wreak havoc around Buffalo. Should be fun.
Day One: Survived.
